How does Cahoots sliding scale work?

If you pay our higher hourly rate, every hour you pay for funds half an hour of work for community projects and less well-off folks. This model allows us to charge less well-off folks a half-rate, and provide free community workshops, while still paying those who do the work a respectable wage.

• Community rate* - $25/hour + GST

* Available to any Community Services Card (CSC) holders. If you don’t have a CSC, you should check if you are eligible here.

There were about 700,000 CSC holders in NZ as of 2021 and this number has been falling due to inflation, not reduced inequity. As inequity in NZ continues to increase and fewer people qualify for a CSC, Cahoots is actively looking at other ways to assess need in the community.
